Bayonetta Origins has been defined by its own creators as a canonical prequel in which players will be able to control the charismatic Witch of Umbra in one of his first adventures before becoming the character we met in Bayonetta and, subsequently, in Bayonetta 2 and Bayonetta 3.
As we can read in the synopsis offered by Nintendo, the story will tell us the experiences of a young Cereza who undertook a journey to the mysterious and treacherous forest of Avalon with the aim of finding a power that is able to save his mother at a time when she was still only an inexperienced apprentice of the dark arts.
In this plot, in which it will be possible to know a little more information about the first wanderings of Cereza, we will be accompanied by Cheshire, a stuffed animal possessed by the first demon of the witch that will know all those who have enjoyed the last numbered adventure of the series. As can be seen in the first trailer, Cereza and Cheshire will have to cooperate to solve puzzles, avoid obstacles, and face the dangers that lurk in the forest to make their way through.
To understand what this prequel will mean for the ins and outs of the franchise, first we need to know what happened during the trilogy, and all the variations of the Umbra Witch.
The very first Bayonetta… or not?
Let's start with the origin of everything. The first adventure of the Witch of Umbra introduces us to an amnesiac character who remembers nothing of her past, except that she is a witch and that she wants to kill angels. One of her colleagues gives her some information that could give her clues about her identity, and she sets out on a journey to discover who she really is.
During the journey, she discovers all the real facts about the Witches of Umbra, the Sages of Lumen, the Left and Right eyes, and fights against her old friend Jeanne who aims to make her strong in order to protect her clan's precious treasure. At the same time, Bayonetta, who now knows that she is Cereza, has to fight against her father, who devised a plan in which time travel is the key, and thanks to her power, she defeats him and changes the past.
In the end, both witches manage to defeat Balder and Jubileus the Creator, surviving a fall from outer space. This was one of those plots that you need to replay several times to understand and comprehend exactly what it is about, and it was a perfect start for this promising saga.
Same Bayonetta, but a secondary timeline
In the sequel, although the story is a little less impressive than the first one, it is not bad at all. Some time after the events of the first video game, the gang is preparing for the Christmas party, but the balance between Paradiso and Inferno is disrupted, provoking again a fight between angels and demons.
During the fight, Bayonetta loses control of Gomorrah, which causes a blow from him towards Jeanne to rip her soul from her body. Bayonetta then embarks on a journey to Inferno itself to rescue her in less than two days. There she meets Loki, who is one of the two halves of Aesir, the God of Chaos, that is, of our world. Although the final battle was just another fight, we can say that the closing was spectacular.
In short, the Balder we see in the first installment is nothing more than Loptr, the other half of Aesir, controlling him, being the evil within him. In this way, we see a time travel justification that leaves us with our mouths open, surprising us with how well done it is.
Three Bayonettas for three endings
Finally we have the third installment, with another moderately interesting story, but with a very different development and an overwhelming ending. Let's go step by step, because there is a lot to say.
First of all, the game starts with the most frenetic prologue we've ever had, as we control a slightly older Bayonetta who has wrinkles on her cheeks and doesn't have her characteristic mole on the lower left side of her lip. She is fighting against a mysterious creature and, to our surprise, our protagonist has encountered a danger that she finds it hard to cope with.
Suddenly, a soldier, who later on will have absolutely no relevance in the game, and Viola, the girl from the trailers, who we'll be honest, we never suspected could be the daughter of Bayonetta and Luka from her universe, appear in hiding. There is a lot of emphasis on "of their universe," because there will be a lot to see later on.
That's when, overwhelmed, we see our protagonist die. But it's all about another universe, another alternative reality to our own. Many people said that the timeline where we play is different from the one we know, and we could believe it, but as soon as we finish the first level, the cards used by Loki and Cereza's wooden doll to move through the levels of the first game are placed on the table of The Gates of Hell.
The death of Bayonetta, the rise of Cereza
It doesn't matter how clever you are. It doesn't matter if you don't play a role in a love relationship. It doesn’t matter how strong and independent you consider yourself. It doesn't matter if you're a stranger or not. You are going to die someday, and this is the best video game franchise to explain it to you. It doesn’t matter...
It’s sad, but that's the reality that we have to live with Bayonetta, and Cereza. Even if in a future Bayonetta 4 everything turns out to be a joke, it won’t change what we have experienced so far. Or at least not at the moment with this pain we've been feeling since last November. But hey, probably in the end, this story has only just begun, and maybe the song is the same, and we'll be back once again.
Let’s see what happens in the next video game Bayonetta Origins: Cereza and the Lost Demon because maybe, just maybe, we will find out more about the lore and we won't leave yet, because we know you want to tell us that true love never dies. And it never will, Cereza. Thank you for coming into our lives. We love you, Bayonetta.
But… one more Bayonetta?
Yes! Thank you for reading this far. We have a surprise for you. Another Bayonetta. Maybe not the most powerful one, but the sexiest one. She’s reached out to you for some information, and after initial hesitation, you imagine how good it would be to see those huge tits again, and there’s simply no way to turn her down. When you show up with the information she asked for, and it turns out she wants another package – the one in your pants.
You can find this particular parody about Bayonetta at VRCosplayX, but we already have another surprise. Soon, very soon, we will release a new Bayonetta parody featuring Alex Coal, one of the greatest vr pornstars, and most importantly, it will be our first full CGI video release, so we will try to make it even more special than other ones. We can’t wait to see this new Bayonetta; we are so excited about this!
