There was a lot of talk before the election about something called Project 2025 and its effect on the adult industry. Let us be clear, the Project 2025 creators, many of who are close to or members of the future Trump administration want to not only ban, but to criminalize porn. At BaDoink Studios we make porn, we're not in favor of any political party. What we are against are any moves to ban or illegalise porn. We believe that the industry should remain free and unaffected by government ideology or interference, while staying within the normal rule of law. Making porn as consenting adults is our own right. Watching porn is an important part of almost everyone’s sex lives, and it’s our right to choose what we watch as individuals in the privacy of our own homes.
What is Project 2025?
Project 2025 is a policy agenda created by the Heritage Foundation, a conservative think tank, with the help of people working for the Trump campaign, and currently in the government positions in the United States. It outlines specific aims for the next Republican presidential government, in this case the second Donald Trump administration. The project contains a detailed policy guide, a database of potential appointees, a specific training program for these individuals, and a 180-day plan for their first 6 months in office. So what? Lots of think tanks have big dreams, right? Read on to find out why they might be a little more than just dreamers.
Conversation about the Project 2025 initiative sparked public debate after the head of the Heritage Foundation, Kevin Roberts, claimed: “We are in the process of the second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless - if the left allows it to be.” This got a few people naturally worried about exactly what they were trying to achieve and why. There are many people involved in the creation and the promotion of Project 2025 that work for or with Donald Trump. We think that Trump and his future administration plus the Heritage Foundation take Project 2025 seriously, which is very, very bad news for all porn lovers.
Donald Trump has appeared on the cover of Playboy Magazine, and had a well-known love affair with a pornstar.
A Project 2025 Summary - Do They Really Want to Ban Porn?
If we’re talking about what Project 2025 plans, the answer is yes, they explicitly (haha) want to ban porn. They believe that porn contributes to toxic sexual ideology and anyone who makes it should either be imprisoned or punished. They believe that it should also be made illegal. The groups involved in the creation of Project 25 target some expected and understandable issues that most people are dissatisfied with, including rising household budgets and drug overdose deaths. Then they move onto a controversial list of things that they believe are “toxic influences”, including transgender people and rights, drag queens, and even education about abortion and contraception. They believe an “abstinence-only” curriculum for young people is the only correct one. Something else that makes it onto the toxic influence list, and what’s most relevant to this article, is pornography.
According to Project 2025, “Pornography, with its harmful effects, especially on children, has become a public health crisis that is destroying the lives of millions. We encourage states to continue to fight this public menace and pledge our commitment to children’s safety and well-being.” Firstly, of course porn should be for and by adults. Secondly, porn addiction is extremely uncommon. The overwhelming majority of people consume porn in a healthy way. Porn is also not a driver of, or the reason for, unplanned pregnancies, in fact, it might even be lowering the rates! According to the CDC, unintended pregnancies dropped by a rate of 15% in the United States between 2010 and 2019. Porn is obviously not responsible for a public health crisis and there is no evidence for that.

What are Project 2025’s specific claims about porn?
The creators and supporters of the initiative claim that America’s children are increasingly exposed to adult themes and sexual images at younger and younger ages, and that includes porn, entertainment and broader culture. It also includes government initiatives about sex and abortion, education about LGBTQ history, and policies that they say promote destructive ideas about gender identity. They are against the Equality Act which seeks to give equal rights to trans people. They want to prevent parents and culture from showing young people anything about alternative genders or sexualities. They claim that children are frequently exposed to “radical sexual ideology”.
The creators of Project 2025 try, with some illogical leaps, to explain that they believe pornography is also responsible for the normalization of non-normative gender expression, anyone transgender and the sexualization of minors. The Project goes on to say that “people who produce and distribute it should be imprisoned. Educators and public librarians who purvey it should be classed as registered sex offenders, and telecommunications and technology firms that facilitate its spread should be shuttered.” If that sounds like quite a few more extreme, illogical leaps to you, it did to us too. Trump has distanced himself from Project 2025 recently, but we are aware that he works closely with many people involved in its creation, who vocally support the plan. Can you imagine a life without 8K VR porn? Frankly, we don't want to.
Is there a movement to stop Project 2025 from making it into law?
Of course! The demonization of porn by Project 2025 is obviously completely out of proportion and an infringement on our private rights. There are plenty of people who recognize that already. Not only does porn employ a massive industry of successful people, that serves many satisfied and happy customers, it’s also against our rights as private citizens to decide what we can and can’t watch. Porn is not as addictive as illegal drugs, you will not save society by banning it, and using the full force of the government to criminalize people for their sexual orientations is completely over the top and backwards.
