Samsung Gear VR Start Guide
The Samsung Gear VR is a now discontinued mobile phone friendly headset that was produced by Samsung from 2014 until 2020. The support for the device is now discontinued but the Oculus app still works, meaning you’re able to watch content through the device if you can source a phone that fits inside the headset’s device holder. It’s also important to note that it uses a USB-C or micro-USB port, so if your device doesn’t use one of those as a charge port, this option won’t work.
Although we no longer recommend any mobile viewing experience of BaDoink Studios content, the Gear VR is a better way of watching VR than a Google Cardboard or more basic device. It has better lenses and controls on the side of the headset, plus it comes with a controller. It’s compatible with various Samsung smartphones, which are listed at the bottom of this page.
GearVR works by attaching and plugging your phone into the front of the headset, then magnifying the content that you want to watch on there. There aren’t many uses as there once were for the Gear VR but you can still watch immersive VR porn on your mobile using the Gear VR system.
As the device is now discontinued, making the Gear VR work can be a little high effort, but luckily for us, Oculus have maintained support for the device. There are 2 main methods for getting the Gear VR to work.
Method 1
1. Create a Meta account and link it to a Facebook account. If you do this correctly, you’ll be able to see your account in their system: https://accountscenter.meta.com/profiles
If you already have an Oculus account, merge your Oculus account with a new Meta account. You can see previous purchases that you made here: https://secure.oculus.com/my/orders/
2. It is essential to disable your Meta account’s 2-factor authentication (2FA). If you don’t, it will throw an error saying your account has 2FA enabled. 2FA is not supported in the Oculus GearVR app.

3. Return to the Galaxy phone of your choice. You will be able to log in to the Oculus GearVR app, but the store page will not be visible. The library will show your apps & games but when tapping any app or game, it will produce the following error: "Something went wrong while loading this product".
4. Tap the three dots next to the name of your app and tap "Install" - this will install it in the background.
5. Plug your device into the Gear VR and away you go!
Method 2
This method involves enabling the Gear VR developer mode. Please be careful with this method if you haven’t done anything like this before! It is an advanced method.
1. Open settings > Apps > GearVR services > Storage > Manage storage.
2. Tap 5 or 6 times on "VR Service Version" until the developer menu is enabled and enable the following settings:
- Developer mode
- Add icon to homescreen
- Allow VW API without OSIG
3. Now if you open your app drawer from your home screen you’ll see "Gear VR Service". You’ll be able to open any VR apps from there, if you have previously installed via the APK method.
