HP Reverb G2 start guide
Instructions
The HP Reverb G2, the standout of HP's most recent release, is a headset you can use to explore virtual reality anywhere. It has a built-in gyroscope, proximity sensors, and two front-facing cameras that provide depth perception. But how to set up HP Reverb G2? How should you keep it in good shape? Here are some essential tips and tricks!
1. Prepare your home for the HP Reverb G2.
A space of 5 by 5 feet is suitable for using the HP Reverb G2 at intensity, so you need to check whether there is a vacant place in your home that meets these criteria.
This space - the one you can use for your HP Reverb G2 - must be big enough to allow the following:
- 1) Space that is large enough to allow people to walk around freely.
- 2) Space that will allow you to walk freely behind you while wearing the headset without bumping into objects in the room
- 3) Space that will allow you to install the sensors throughout the designated location
And finally, don't forget to identify the area - or areas - where you'll be using the HP Reverb G2. Then make sure there's plenty of space around each area - even if there are objects in the immediate vicinity, make sure you can move freely. Do not go out of your way to move furniture.
Finally, you must also make sure you have enough open space to allow the cables to be crisscrossed as they need to be for the HP Reverb G2 to function correctly.
2. Mount the headset.
There are three primary ways you can mount your HP Reverb G2 in your home: by placing it on a flat surface, mounting it on a wall, or mounting it on a shelf.
If you'd like to mount it on a flat surface, such as a table or desk, you will need to purchase commercial mounts. If you're looking for options that provide extra space for the cables and let you control where the headset is pointed even in the absence of a flat surface, then you may be interested in a VR Ready Premium Wall Mount by VIVE instead.
3. Wind and unwind the cable to save space.
The HP Reverb G2 requires a lot of cable for its use, so you'll want to make sure you get the right length cables. You can usually find the required cables on Amazon; however, it can be trial and error until you find the correct length cables.
To be on the safe side, before going to Amazon, measure the length you need to buy your cables. Then go to the official HP website and measure it on the official HP Reverb G2 dimensions chart. You'll know if you are within the needed size range if it's within 1/4 of an inch.
4. Configure motion controllers for a better play experience.
Motion controllers are the HP Reverb G2 controllers you use to interact with the virtual reality environment and objects, so configuring them increases your experience. There are two methods to configure your motion controllers: by using natural interactions or by using touch feedback.
5. Adjust your lenses for better visuals.
One of the most important things you'll need to do with your HP Reverb G2 is to calibrate it. You should ensure that the display is set to the same distance as your eyes because it will enable an optimal experience. You can do so by going to Settings > Display and the calibration process.
If you have glasses, you'll also want to ensure that your lenses are appropriately calibrated.
